It is with a great opportunity to participate in the 2024 Philippine Society of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineers Pre-professional Group Mindanao Island Convention (PSABECon’24), hosted by Caraga State University in Butuan City, Agusan del Norte, Philippines on 26-29 February 2024.
The theme for this 2024 PSABE ppg Mindanao Wide Convention was Bugsay Bayaw: Voyage to a greener and food-secured Philippines through sustainable innovations in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering.
This four-day event brings together 13 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) offering the BS ABE program, including my own school, Xavier University. During this convention, we engage in a variety of activities aimed at fostering camaraderie and knowledge exchange.
For all of us “Bayaws” across Mindanao Island, this event holds special significance. The bond among “Bayaws” transcends university affiliations; in our hearts, we treat each other as brothers and sisters, regardless of where we come from across the country.
Beyond academic interactions, we also have the chance to socialize, make friends, and build connections with fellow “Bayaws” from other universities.
Witnessing at least three conventions before, this year's convention is unique. The three separate venues for the contest proper—Caraga State University, for the plenary and socials night— Dotties Hotel and Restaurant , and for the parangal and fellowship night— Amontay Beacha nd Resort, set it apart from previous conventions.
We may come from different cultural, and social background however we all driven by the common goal of seeking sustainable innovations in agriculture for a greener and food-secured Philippines.
Central Mindanao University ranked as Over all Champion of this convention, followed by Mindanao State University -General Santos City Campus as first place, second place was University of Southern Philippines and third place was Xavier University.
